Really? I've used a Windows VM for daily dev since 2010. XP, then 7 mostly. What virtualization platform?
Setting up a Windows VM and everything about it (the process and the result) is worse than I ever imagined.

Windows 7 with VMWare. Everything from getting a copy of Windows to successfully updating is a nightmare.

@amazon workspaces? I've needed a Windows 7 box for random tasks and it's worked great. -
