We understand plans change, hence why we pride ourselves w/ no change fees. We just ask the fare difference to be paid. ^HR
Open seats on an earlier connecting flight and @SouthwestAir won't let me on without an upgrade fee.

I get it. But I'll be sitting at the airport for 2 hours now and there are empty seats on that flight. Exceptions can be made.
