Publisher gets a business model, journalists get activism, readers get to say that they’re reading unbiased news. It’s a run of the mill tragedy of the commons.
I find it impossible to determine whether it was the business model dragging the journalists, journalists dragging the business model or the landscape dragging both? The internet changed media in complex ways and the direction of causality is not clear at all. A tragedy indeed
