Maybe I’m wrong but I thought a lot of the wanting to end the drug war is bc people don’t think many enforced drugs are worthy of being considered harmful, esp in relation to the types of punishment. Hard to make that same argument with hate speech and it’s current consequences.

Both sides believe in “freedom” when it aligns with their world view. Right believe in freedom to own a gun but against freedom to choose when to have children. Left believes in reproductive freedom but no freedom to choose schools or freedom to own guns.
