Hmm maybe. I don't know that I believe this though More likely to me that politicians know they have incomplete knowledge with constrained cognitive load to go first principles. So rely on network for details which has intentional or unintentional orthodoxy

Was her point about the spent fuel rods wrong? I genuinely don’t know.

Stroing spent fuel rods is an issue. However, current nuclear weapons treaties don’t allow us to repurpose those rods and reuse them. France does this repurposing for their nuclear fuel. I felt like Yucca mountain was a good solution for storage; many people do not.
