the last few years. But the people who are under control are able to pay what they pay. If you stop this and go to market, it make go up but it will come back down and then force the state to mandate section eight. The deal is good owners can do long range planning easier.

Assuming you’re arguing to let the free market determine prices it would still kick out a bunch of ppl who should have the option to live there. Why not focus on increasing housing supply (at least in SF) while maintaining rent control. That way you don’t fuck over poor people

Is this true? Vast majority of renters in SF have much lower rents than other Bay Area cities without rent control, for example.
