Because it’s impossible to project, and therefore a waste of the founder’s time, and also can cause founders to stick to plans that don’t make sense due to commitment bias.

The accuracy of the model doesn't matter. The fact that a founder takes the time to build one and constantly updates it as she gets better information does matter.

It might be helpful for some founders and not helpful for others. Either way, I don't think it's required to be successful, and can be an antipattern in many situations.
