Nah it’s wild to see how far behind academia is than industry - you could do this internal to all the big tech companies for like a decade now, and at about 10x their best performance there

Stanford published a paper on gg, a framework and a set of command-line tools that helps people execute everyday applications (like compiling SW) using thousands of parallel threads on #AWS #Lambda to achieve near-interactive completion times. Wow!

I mean, I did this with distcc 15 years ago. But the paper is talking about making it cheap and easy for everyone, not just those who have thousands of machines sitting around. And doing it more generically as well.
