I don't understand how investors can stand having a startup pitch them with a slide deck. I get glassy-eyed as soon as I see a slide. I wonder if that's the point — that this format gives investors the option to check out if the pitch is boring?

In B2C, there’s often no “selling” at all. And in B2B - unless you’re pitching Fortune 500 - virtually no customer sale involves a formal pitch. A 1-hour phone call with no materials is probably the best simulation of actual B2B SME sales.
