honestly, i would much rather see this than wall street, farmers bailouts...
I'm in favor of ending all subsidies - but for comparison, the bailout was ~$630B and turned a ~$100B profit (https://projects.propublica.org/bailout/ ). The total cost of farmer subsidies is ~$20B/year.

haven’t looked at the numbers recently but I remember reading an article suggesting the real cost of the bailouts was closer to $30 trillion. now erasing 1.6 trillion of student debt does not sound all that crazy. and you’d actually be helping people who need help the most.

My biggest issue is that it's likely to fuck everyone over in the medium->long term. There's no part of me that thinks student loans were basically predatory, and that most people didn't have tons of options in a labor market that basically requires a college degree for any job.
