They've been doing that, and haven't you noticed the terrible results? Crumbling infrastructure, lousy services. Maybe your customers should just pay you less and wonder why you can't deliver your services too!
You must know that Amazon's tax bill is low from carryforward losses. Do you think Amazon should voluntarily donate in excess of its legal tax obligations, or are you suggesting that Amazon be taxed on some measure other than profit, or is there something else you're proposing?

As complex as it might be, some other measure than profit has to be explored, when profits are managed for tax minimization. The obligation should relate to the extent to which the company benefits from public goods. It’s a competitive issue as much as public policy.
