Why’s that? Massive multi-zone, multi-region outage with no comms for >30 minutes, and the rise of K8S seems like the perfect time to get serious about multi-cloud.

Second paragraph: “Region wide outages are very rare.” Between this outage and AWS last year, region wide outages have blown anyone’s 4 9’s for the past two years. There are downsides, but if you run entirely on k8s, it’s doable, and you can still keep your cloud specific tools.

It just depends on what you’re going for - 3 9’s can run in a single cloud, 4 and 5 9’s require multi cloud. That’s the business decision.

Here’s the argument in this blog post laid out cleanly: - cloud providers have lots of datacenters - the datacenters are distributed so the risk of a natural disaster is diversified - actually the bigger risk is misconfiguration/human error with one cloud - multi cloud is a trap
-
That isn’t remotely the argument laid out in the blog post.
