[in Uber] Me: so how do you like driving for Uber? Him: love it. been doing it 3 years. fits my lifestyle. Me: really? reading lots of bad press about it lately. Him: I subscribe to 50 Cent’s philosophy - “if haters gonna hate then let 'em hate and watch the money pile up.”

Yes, I know. I'm making a very different point. I've talked in some detail to dozens of drivers about their business model. Most made erroneous statements suggesting that they don't understand their business model. This makes them quite likely to make bad decisions.

Of course, that's a far from random sample; I may have misunderstood; etc. I haven't done a study. But I certainly believe that Uber/Lyft are benefiting substantially from a large number of drivers who don't understand the economics of driving.

Or, look for alternative income sources. Cleaning a house may be $30+/hr. Painting a house may be $100+/hr. There's also petsitting, housesitting, babysitting, bartending, etc.

If you are living paycheck to paycheck... You will default in 2 years. But I see your point of buying time, you would need to get out of that business model soon.
