Aggregate star ratings on TripAdvisor/Yelp/etc are useless. Wish there was a Chrome extension to calculate NPS (5 star reviews minus 3/2/1 star reviews) of each listing. Would save me a lot of time in Excel.

I think @FoursquareGuide ratings are more complex than yelp. I always find them to be more accurate to what I’m going to think. I think Google Maps is also doing some interesting stuff here

Foursquare is fantastic. The only review site where you can just go by the score without digging deeper / additional calculations.

Curious what about them you think is useless? From a business' perspective its useful to track because as a potential customer you're more likely to pick a 4.8 star restaurant to go to in an area vs. a 4.3 one. Helpful for the business to manage that first impression

I don’t care what the star rating is - I care about what % of people love it (5 star) vs those who were dissatisfied (1/2/3 star). I go by % of 5 star reviews as a shortcut.

Idk Yelp works pretty well for me. Rarely had a bad experience with over 100 reviews and four stars.
