Now if only there interest in opportunities that were hard and require large technological leaps. Interest in unsexy startups might obscure lack of interest in this area.

Why is there no Uber of freight? Why has no one reinvented pallets?
-
There literally is Uber for Freight :) https://www.uberfreight.com/ . Amazon just rolled out an LTL service, too. Convoy is another. Lots of activity in this space. Highly fragmented, irregular shipments...hard nut to crack.

I was on a panel about logistics tech last week - literally used the word "unsexy" to explain why I chose to go into the field (thanks

From starting an airline to an insurance company...this is my trajectory. Less, and less sexy.

It's not just unsexy -- it's out-of-favor. "On-demand economy" startups boomed like crazy in 2011-2013, then were out of favor from ~'14-'17 as many went bankrupt. But there were still great opportunities. And this is a perpetual issue, it's human nature.

Supply chain management is completely underratted. It's incredibly important these companies modernize the "back office". You can't innovate when you are relying on legacy systems pushing the data to the "front of house".
