Certainly not all NYT reporting is / reporters are bad. But I've read a substantial enough number of factually incorrect and/or willfully biased (non-Opinion) NYT articles (in my areas of expertise) to seriously doubt the neutrality of the publication.
And the vetting process is irrelevant if the outcomes are flawed. You don't get points for effort.
