I know you meant this as a joke, but something important *has* happened to the NYT. They've gone from the paper of record (which implies neutrality) to one on the left. The only source left if you want a neutral take on things, just to know what's happening, is the Economist.
It wasn't as much of a joke as it sounded. The tone and content is so far removed from neutrality (and, in cases like this, reality) that it is hard to draw a conclusion other than intentional trolling (or, as it is called in ""journalism"", clickbait).
