"The business is going to zero in any scenario, so you might as well double drivers' wages on the way down" is a different argument that the one I thought you were making - but I disagree with this premise, too.
So since we seem to agree that paying drivers a 'livable wage' would cause the company to bankrupt, are you suggesting that drivers be given equity? Or am I misunderstanding something?

If Uber/Lyft are breaking laws by having drivers as contractors, should definitely be fixed. If you're suggesting Uber voluntarily pay its (contractor) drivers minimum wage equiv, that would cause certain bankruptcy - so I'm having a hard time understanding how that's reasonable.
