I think the vehicle that will achieve scale will be single-occupant. Most trips have 1 passenger...if it is on-demand, no need to plan for peak capacity (e.g. buy a station wagon because you go snowboarding 5x/yr). I call my design a 'coffin car', but open-minded about branding.
I'll go you one weirder: Prosthetic limbs. (Or, if it makes better sense to think of something produced at scale - hearing aids.)

Similiar mistakes in evolution of carbon fiber with 'black aluminum' designs. Now with technology that Mantis has developed, it is no longer possible to think of carbon fiber as carbon fiber. Things are getting weird... you can barely call this 3D printed matter a 'material'
