Thinking about #serverless as minimalism (don’t own technology if you don’t have to), I’ve started to think about people who decry vendor lock-in on principle as hoarders

I'd also argue vendor lock-in concerns are only for larger businesses. Though everyone always looks at a problem for a big business and immediately believes it applies to them as well.
Large businesses are locked in to whatever they are currently doing regardless of vendor/technology choice - they're locked in because of a basic inability to make swift decisions at a micro and macro level.

True and at that level, time to negotiate etc. The reality is (in this context), minor code alterations is lowest on the totem pole of time and cost if migrating.

My point was not about whether lock-in is present or in what form, but rather at a personal level, why some people have a fear of lock-in that is not commensurate with risk
