Like others in this thread, I think you are conflating “Tesla can build autonomous cars without LIDAR” with “Tesla will operate an autonomous fleet with the current Model 3s being produced.”

Gonna take a while but the ambition seems necessary to drive the process forward. Imagine a few years back saying Falcon would recover both it's sideboosters, its main engine, and both halves of the fairing?
