The biggest investment class that no one is working on: private equity -> venture funnel. Back a great operator in buying a small-to-mid-market business in a broken industry, implement best-in-class SaaS software, then build/dogfood venture-scale software to fill the gaps.

Unclear what you're trying to say but sounds like Constellation Software Of course it's naive to think you can just bolt software onto any company and see immediate results. Markets (people) aren't that simple

This is a silly example, but the idea is instead of trying to build something like Shyp from scratch, buy a small chain of retail shipping locations first.

Doing a version of step one of the above - found it very very tough in practice.
@BrentBeshore has some great thoughts on implementing software (or not) at newly acquired companies -
If you can get the pieces to click, which seems like it shouldn't be too hard, it's a home run. In practice, it's so brutally difficult that I've quite literally never seen it work.
