Good insights but the main point of the article seems overblown to me. consumers are smart enough to see what is an ad and what is organic result. I don’t think Amazon is trying to deceive the consumers with the ads.

I think it is like saying ads in App Store will bring down Apple. I think ads are legitimate way to discover products in any marketplace as long as user is not deceived.

I didn’t say they were illegitimate, or underhanded - just that they are a suboptimal, non-customer-centric solution to the discovery problem.
