'Moneyball' is a heartwarming story about how if you come up with a great strategy that isn't defensible, someone with more money will come along and destroy you.
I don't follow baseball, but I believe the Red Sox had implemented his strategy before 'Moneyball' came out.

Yep - Epstein was hired by the Red Sox right before Moneyball came out.
