      i was clear that it's their legal behavior that concerns me, and i see it as a political problem. i don't have to hate amazon to think they have an unfair advantage

      Ah, I misread. My original point was: if you believe their tax strategy is legal, then reframing headlines would direct attention where it should be: at the government who is setting the tax code.

      It isn’t practical to stop lobbying...you can only flip it from legal to illegal. It is practical to simplify regulations to close loopholes, thereby limiting politicians’ ability to grant favors.

      to return to your original tweet, i don't see how reframing the headline into a passive voice statement about the government is going to achieve that. fortune's readers understand that the government sets tax law

          If a company loses $X in their first year of operations but then makes $X in net income in their second year, do you believe they should pay tax on that second $X (which makes their 2-year profit == 0)?
