Zoom seems to me like the Hipchat of enterprise video conference: the meh implementation of a very needed product. Who’s building Zoom’s Slack?

Zoom is Slack IMO. The UI could use some work, but we can have seamless video chat with 200+ people and it works flawlessly on 2.5 mbps down. That’s the hard part.

That makes it even more Hipchat and even less Slack haha Slack couldn’t scale to 2000+ people up until very recently. Hipchat was the scalable product, Slack the well-designed one

Not necessarily, but over the short term especially startups (that are super resource-constrained) have to decide what to focus on. But maybe serverless will make scalability cheaper, and bottom-up sales design more important.
