Could partially be because Amazon/Netflix tend to release all episodes at once, while HBO releases shows on a weekly schedule, meaning that Amazon/Netflix users are more likely to binge and get tired of watching the intro 3-4 times in a day.

Artists put the intros (and credits!) there for a reason. Apple TV (at least the original one) acknowledged that and doesn't eat the credits, even in Netflix. Netflix/Amazon and cheap TV channels are distributors; they don't care about the art.
