      Ironic, as just sending this tweet could be considered a hybrid cloud. Compute, cache on your phone, compute, storage, networking in the “cloud”. But, is what really is hybrid cloud ? Basically having a small in house cluster “cloud” that can on demand, expand ...

      ... don’t get hung up on the marking terminology of a group of tech, “the cloud”, that has just been a staple of computer science and IT since the 70s.

      In this sense, ‘hybrid cloud’ means running your own cloud in a data center + using a public cloud like AWS/GCP.

      Multiple clients of mine going the hybrid way. And I think it makes some sense. Some aspects need to remain on servers in your control, and can't rely on "cloud connectivity". Only local network access can be guaranteed. Your own data centres tend to be good for that.

      Local access can't be guaranteed unless there's 100% uptime. I would guess that AWS has better uptime than nearly all private clouds.

          Uptime/downtime doesn’t negate requirements/regulations in some industries for sensitive data to be in your control.
