We're too small to have a receptionist, but if we had one I would carve out time each day to just watch how visitors treated them. There's so much signal -- often negative 
-- in such a short interaction.
That’s why lunch/dinner meetings are a good idea before actually doing business with someone.

I think observing these 2-minute interactions definitely leads to false positives, but I don't think it leads to many false negatives. So the negatives are pretty useful.
