I agree that they should publish corrections. I also think that the NYT aims to be a bastion of journalistic integrity (which is different from others you mentioned), which requires them holding themselves to a higher standard.

Oh 100% agree. I was being snarky even mentioning them in he same breath. I also think the article you mentioned about what went wrong would be interesting but wouldn’t clear up why people distrust MSM in the first place.

It also sets a precedent that every time there’s an error that there has to be an accompanying mea culpa (reinforcing the rare errors) while bad faith outlets can just make up the rules as they go along with zero repercussions.
