I think the margins are terrible, way worse than tech that's for sure.

Everything has tradeoffs. I’d guess a successful tech startup is 10-100x harder to achieve than a successful small restaurant.

Restaurants face tons of irrational competition in it for ego reasons rather than to make money. Leads to over supply and makes profit very hard.

No harder. It’s tougher in some respects it’s harder because it’s such a competitive industry. But conceptually it’s relatively simple.
