#abolishprofit is the first hashtag movement to really resonate with me in a long time. Profit is an opaque, biased opinion of financial performance. We must optimize for free cash flow and focus on increasing per share value in the long run.

If you're profitable, you get to keep playing. If you're not, you don't. It's really that simple. Unless you're a government. Then you can steal (tax) and print to make up the shortfall.

Surely it depends on the type of company, how it is valued, and how it is funded? Smaller mid sized companies I agree with you, but larger public ones maybe less so?
