Does Juicero, Solyndra, Jawbone qualify as a Silicon Valley startups? I’m sure the valley would’ve owned up Theranos if it was successful! The Valley is funny!
Calling Theranos a “Silicon Valley startup” is like calling Trump an “entrepreneur” or “investor.” Both are caricatures laughed at by insiders and only thought of as examples by people who know nothing about the subject.

Juicero does for sure. I don’t know much about the others. There are many examples of Silicon Valley VC-backed failures like Juicero - Theranos isn’t one of them, and media/individuals lose credibility when they cite it as an example.

I really want someone to do the data project and track down other companies with Theranos-like boards (big names, no domain expertise, hardtech co). Seems like once-in-a-generation brazenness, and yet..
