I've replaced myself in texts and emails with AI for the last four months, and my friends like me more. How do I break it to them that I'm not the new person they know?

Something wild is happening on the Midjourney subreddit.
People are telling stories and sharing photos of historic events - like the “Great Cascadia” earthquake that devastated Oregon in 2001.
The kicker? It never happened. The images are AI-generated.

Continuing my adventures in e-ink, I had the idea in the weekend to have DallE-2 generate custom images for the weather conditions on the fly! It works surprisingly well!

My advice for expecting parents: Reject the cynicism.
There's a weird trend of cynicism around becoming a parent:
• "Have fun never sleeping!"
• "Hope you got your fun in!"
It's dumb.
The good outweighs the bad by 1000x. The frictions are a tiny tax on the joy it brings.

American: "I'm having brain surgery tomorrow from 2-5pm but can do 5:15pm tomorrow if that works"
European: "Tomorrow is the 789th anniversary of the local cheesemaker setting up shop in our town, which is a 3-day holiday, but I can do next week."

I've never shared this talk because the academic in me has felt irrationally antsy about TED-like formats.
But 3 years later, it's fun to reflect on so much evolution: at Broad, in industry, and for me personally after making that transition in 2020.

Github Copilot has this eerie ability to write code which _almost_ works but includes a subtle mistake in something like a variable's name. It's so close to right that I don't notice the error.
