have decided to make the video Private until
@YouTube confirms it is advertiser friendly. I stand by my work. It's a film review and the fact that YT keeps demonetizing creators is crazy. I'm recording a video response as well cause this really upset me.

The monetization icon is applied automatically before the video is even published. This actually allows you to upload as unlisted to get an early read on the status–if there’s a yellow icon, you ask the review team to take a look before publishing.

So how come the icon changes as soon as the video goes public??

The automated system scans your video multiple times before it’s live & continues to analyze new info once it’s published – this means the icon may change (esp. in the first few hours after upload). We regularly push system updates to improve accuracy, so hope it improves soon!

But that doesn't explain why a video can be left unpublished/privated for days or even weeks and only get the yellow icon as soon as it's published. How come this has been an issue for such a long time and hasn't been fixed? The creators are being ripped off

We agree that the icon changing right after the video’s published isn't great. This can happen b/c the automated system continues to analyze new info from the video once it’s published. Our team is working to improve this experience – we’ll share your example with them.

What new info... The only thing that changes is that the public sees it. Or are you admitting that your system that decides whether people get paid or not is broke af.
