Everyone seemed to enjoy my crevasse video yesterday from . Here is another cool one, a drained englacial water pathway from in Alaska instead. Lots of cool englacial features to discuss here! ,

We rappelled into the bergschrund of Thwaites Glacier to see if bedrock was exposed there so we could sample it and determine the last time it was exposed to sunlight (i.e. glacier retreat). Unfortunately, no luck, but VERY cool caves !

You might wander around , NASA's climate site, etc. Wrt "the last time CO2 was this high"... (a) human civilization did not exist and (b) sea levels were 100 ft or more higher. and also are great.

Since this comes up a lot, a quick run though of the testable, falsifiable, science that supports a human cause of recent trends in global mean temperature.

To end the year, here is a meta-thread of my most useful threads! First off, the grand master thread, explaining: "how do we know climate change is human-caused?"

One of the ironies of a successful campaign to avoid worst case scenarios is always that the people who fought every effort will claim afterwards that there was never any need for any action. That is both predictable and false. But it will be a small price to pay.

I’ve taken a Twitter break this week. I want to share some reflections about why I did this and how we are treating one another on right now. In short: I think we need to be more open as a community to constructive dialogue. THREAD.🧵

When we see climate changing, we don't automatically jump on the human bandwagon, case closed. No, we rigorously examine and test all other reasons why climate could be changing: the sun, volcanoes, natural cycles, even something we don't know yet: could they be responsible? ..

A farmer just sent me this from near Warren in NSW. It’s from earlier in the season but she says they get dust storms every couple of days now and it’s drier. “People don’t realise what it’s like out here.”

It’s lunchtime and I’m in a storytelling mood. Who wants to hear about an ancestor of Greta Thunberg, who did win a Nobel, back in 1903? He was a key figure in the history of the climate crisis, though his prize was nothing to do with that...
