apparently the future of art is making imaginary things for rich ppl to get richer off investing in and speculating on, so basically like the history of art, but faster and worse and on a scale nobody can control, cool

    • This AI does not "read children's emotions" • There are not seven universal emotions • Facial muscle data does not correlate reliably with a person's inner state Covid is being used as a pretext to install this in remote classes, then keep it.

Reminder: IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. The richest 1% of Michiganders are expected to receive 30% of the GOP tax law’s benefits coming to the state - The richest 1% can expect an avg 2020 tax cut of $52,230 while the poorest 20% of Michiganders expect an avg cut of just $50.

one major difference: one shouldn't exist and the other should be a worker-owned cooperative operating under a radically different political-economic regime. but good try, Tim.

It’s just so wild to me that Amazon frames driver safety as an issue of drivers not being disciplined enough instead of Amazon’s notoriously inhumane demands and working conditions

Almost everything you hated about Amazon under Jeff Bezos will likely get worse under Andy Jassy. After all, the incoming CEO ran AWS as it massively expanded contracts with ICE, the fossil fuel industry, police, and the military & intelligence services.

While the Coors "project" isn't explicitly about a subject's "dream data," it speaks to capital's aspirations towards colonizing every aspect of our inner lives, mining and exploiting them.

This writing came out of research for an exhibition called "the Dr. Pawel Norway Dream Machine," and these projects are concerned with the way dreams become data.

Everyone knows the student debt crisis is hurting young people, but it’s also hurting our seniors. The government can garnish up to 15% of your social security payments to collect on student loan debt, hampering one of the greatest anti-poverty programs in the country. Thread.

And they had the nerve to throw in that this was somehow for “team safety.” Workers will lose 40 hours of rest per year. It’s long past time to unionize Amazon—every damn subsidiary.

Lots of individuals and corporations who have funded right-wing death squads, armed conflicts overseas, and backed politicians opposed to certifying the election used Strong Words to condemn the riot they enabled.

., and still provide platforms for white supremacists. Companies like and still allow them to fundraise. They've seen what it can lead to when they are allowed to organize and radicalize. It's time to deplatform them once and for all.
