They sell much more than medicine. In the video, they were in the hair care section

In that case he definitely doesn’t need it, no excuse regardless

Are you suggesting that people don't need personal hygiene products and medicine?

I’m suggesting people shouldn’t steal a big bag full of them and who the hell needs that much anyway? Why are you defending a criminal lmao

In the video, it appears that he took one product from that shelf. I am defending him because he likely has no immediate option other than theft.

Really? A lot of people steal, not all of them are homeless or in poverty. I get that some people are in difficult situations but this ain’t the answer. Also he had more than one item in that bag

Most people who steal are in poverty and do such out of necessity. There are policies that could help like strengthening welfare programs (which I doubt you support). But I'm asking about the short run: if not theft, how would you suggest people fulfill their immediate needs? 1/2

That’s not for me to decide but there are millions of people in poverty & going and stealing won’t change that, also if every broke person did this not only would some business go broke they’ll end up in prison. If he’s doing this he will probably also steal from small shops too

You're right, it won't help their financial situation in the long run, but their concern rightfully lies in meeting their basic needs in the short run. And sure, they could end up in prison. 1/5

They are aware of this, yet they still resort to risking their freedom in order to access simple personal hygiene products. That should speak volumes on the quality of the welfare programs of the richest country ever. 2/5

Large corporations are not going broke due to theft. If they were even slightly concerned about something this drastic, they would direct their political donations towards politicians who fight to strengthen the social safety net as this would reduce the necessity for theft. 3/5

It is pretty bold to assume that he would also steal from small shops, but I would hope that people who resort to theft concentrate on larger corporations rather than neighborhood stores. 4/5

I don't know if there is any information on where most shoplifting occurs, but given the physical size of the stores and volume of customers, my intuition leads me to believe that most shoplifting occurs at large stores. 5/5
