Sharing the winning 0xMonaco car from team — no crazy low-level tricks or pricing techniques, just high-level strategies & tactics that break up the race into phases: sit back early on, maintain forward momentum, go full blitzkrieg at the end

Many top cars ended up taking it easy early on, hoping the others duke it out and waste coins; as long one opponent doesn’t accelerate hard but second place opponent won’t shell them, this is a great way to save coin and avoid getting shelled yourself, & easy to catch up mid-game

During the mid-game, it maintains its speed when in the back (close third place is the best location here) and tries to maintain decent speed without getting greedy, setting up for a strong finish with plenty of money, only shelling when in second place and avoiding big expenses

The big, decisive late-game move is to get out of third place and into second if needed, then shell the leader and out-spend on accelerating each turn (remember that even if it’s expensive to accelerate, you’re also making it more expensive for your opponents)

Lots of parameters and tactics were tuned along the way to fit the evolving meta, including a shell on the first turn to counter cheeky early breakout / price gouges and sanity checks on move costs vs available balances throughout

Really hoping that 0xMonaco lives on in some fashion going forward If so, I’m confident we’ll look back at cars like this as hopelessly basic one day Especially once you can easily “train” against other cars locally (this was all uploaded straight from compiler output)

Gotta say… coming from the exacting environment of writing and testing mission-critical code, shooting from the hip on code like this is an absolute joy I’m really looking forward to the maturation of on-chain gaming to scratch the itch and just have fun writing YOLO contracts!

If the opponent accelerated hard then it’s a waste of money to accelerate at that point as they drove the price up bigly (common strat was like accelerating by 15 on the first move)
