The banking system was out of control unhinged, gov had to step in. You don't think this is inevitable outcome of any financial system in this society? Cryptocurrency evolves so fast could reach implosion point at hyperspeed but difference is there won't be anyone to bail it out.https://twitter.com/eiaine/status/957486056890236930 …

Current system in US given us cancer cures, internet, computing power beyond imagination, solar, high quality of life for many. Some of those who are unhappy with it enough to support alternative future may have good intentions, but many do not. Don't see risk/benefit worth it.

BTW it may appear VCs love this stuff but you can't take their word as gospel. They make small bets on many things and by design most don't pan out. People totally misinterpret their endorsements or motivations because they don't understand venture strategy.

Look I don't love Wall Street either but I feel like at least they get slowly less evil. Or at least their shenanigans happen behind closed doors now and people aren't doing cocaine in conference rooms & over-lending on homes (we kicked the can to students this time, oh goody).

This society is debt by design. Bitcoin won't change that. We can definitely help the student debt thing though that is fixable. But the "bitcoin maximalist" vision for the future is dystopian well beyond any of this. If Black Mirror doesn't do an episode I will be disappointed.

1/2 This is my exact concern. BTC is still operating under the same win-lose systems dynamic that has led us to our inequitable situation today. But it will be wealth generation on steroids. This can lead to even more rapid extraction of natural resources for values abstraction.
