Maybe. To interpret this, we also have to factor in the observer’s bias that affects people’s reporting of, e.g. gambling losses. Unless Trav has hard numbers, his recollections are somewhat suspect as selective remembering.

intuitions are often incorrect when it comes to recall of this type of correlation, so yes… also if everyone did it, then the technique would stop working. IMO no doubt there are algorithms already performing sentiment analysis of the amateur finance discussion boards...

Sentiment analysis algos on this is an incredibly exciting idea that I haven't thought of before. Makes sense since discussions in the space were scattered/distributed, but now we're seeing sizeable discussion groups tht correlate with pumps. Thanks for sharing. Will explore.
