    Not simple & linear as intuition suggests. As in life, pathways to conservation can be complex and not easily seen without long experience.

    I always think the critical element here is the likely alternative. If it is tourism with more revenue & habitat protection, great. But if the alternative is habitat conversion, then you get indiscriminate killing & no revenue at all, so retaining TH there would be better.

    There is science to show it can have negative local impacts, and also plenty of science to show it can have positive impacts, often at wider scales. All dependent on site, species & management, which is why we need nuanced approaches, not blanket legislation such as bans.
