Converted my old phone into a console emulator. It will help me realize my most ambitious goal yet: To play all the Pokémon games, official and fangame, back to back, on the same device.

This is cool and a welcome development. It isn't perfect - plenty of matches where you can't make a "collage" argument at all. What I find interesting is how it shows inspirations - you can run plenty of very human art and see what the creators might have been inspired by.

It's still lightweight, still overtly religious. But there comes a point on the road where you need someone telling you what you already know. Helps you put one step in front of the other and keep going. Not exactly sage advice, but a little bit of water in the desert.

A few years ago, when I was starting my career as an author, I read Pressfield's "War of Art" and was annoyed by it. It felt stupid, lightweight and annoyingly religious. It felt like the web copy on an MLM scheme. I read it again recently and . . . ok, yeah, I get it.

Generative entertainment is absolutely coming within a few years. Things like that always start out as low-quality, "so weird it's funny" type stuff, with a meme-like quality. Next thing you it's shockingly similar to actual TV content.

There is now a completely AI generated sitcom that's basically if robots tried to make a late 90's video game cutscene of Seinfeld that has about 15,000 consistent live viewers on Twitch collectively laughing at how weird and funny it can be

Watching the impact of the Hindenburg Report is restoring my faith in good journalism / research. On that note, isn't this highly leveraged operating style typical of Sri Lankan conglomerates? I know at least a couple of big ones leveraged to the hilt.

I’m very curious. Who keeps building these multi-billion rupee software that never function properly? We investigated (and showed) how much of a fiasco the SPC software spec was. I’d love to see IRD’s.

Personal observation: I used to not believe in vegetables. Now I have begun consuming vegetables and am much healthier. Therefore I’ve decided to switch my disbelief to penguins. Everybody’s happy, the penguins don’t give a shit (and don’t exist anyway) and less harm is done.

Ancillary point: even with the economic collapse, quality of life for upper classes is significantly higher than many people believe, especially those migrating. You need to understand how much people pay for rent on a shitty NY apartment.

One thing I've learned from the economic discourse in Sri Lanka is that upper-class (top 20% of income) people somehow insist that they're "middle class". Average monthly income (ie: the middle class) was Rs. 76,414 for an entire household (estate sector is lower: Rs.46,865).

JUNG_E is fantastic. Lots of “I did not see that coming!” moments. As of late Korean sci-fi has been clawing itself a solid grip on streaming platforms. Go watch it!

I was wondering what the finance x tech fad crowd might invent next. Looks like they’ve got around to the concept of “adaptations”. In a few centuries they might actually crawl out of the petrol dish and make noises vaguely resembling language.
