  7. Three thoughts on LA after living here two years: 1) The weather is *under*rated 2) The tax of movement (traffic) is extraordinarily high 3) Brian Wilson, Sly Stone, Dr Dre, et al spending years living as hermits making records here isn’t eccentric, it’s just LA (see above)

  9. I like the trend of products using emailed links for sign-in instead of requiring passwords. It's user friendly and allows young companies to outsource account security to email providers without locking themselves into a proprietary provider for account creation (i.e. FB)

  15. Post-capitalism wouldn't be a Utopian blank slate, but it would do three big things: Expand society's dashboard beyond financial value Justify financial investments into non-financial values Change how we see self-interest (stakeholders *and* shareholders, me *and* us) 7/

  16. I created a framework called Bentoism that organizes this shift into a simple 2x2 model The idea is to expand how we see value by expanding how we see self-interest 6/

  17. Post-capitalism is the emergence of new forms of value in addition to financial capital Things like social capital, knowledge capital, ecological capital, etc. In post-capitalism, society's focus shifts to growing value *on top of capital* rather than just capital itself 5/

  18. How big? This could be how post-capitalism happens Post-capitalism doesn't mean anti-capitalism or non-capitalism (to paraphrase Peter Drucker’s book “Post-Capitalist Society”) Post-capitalism would exist in part because of a capital abundance 4/

  19. This is just the beginning We'll soon see carbon footprints in quarterly earnings, companies building business models around CO2 reduction and wellbeing metrics These steps might feel empty or incremental at first, but they'll compel bigger changes over time 3/

  20. We see it in growing calls for decarbonization in more CEOs expecting a broader bottom line in more CEOs getting fired for non-financial reasons Non-financial values are becoming increasingly important 2/

  21. One of the biggest changes happening now is the growth of non-financial values in our decision-making 1/
