Anyone who thinks that getting rid of capitalism will get rid sexism and racism need to take a hard look at the horribly toxic cultures in the open source software communities.

Free Software is one of the only areas of advanced technical production that operates via free associations and cooperation, rather than being controlled by the property owners / IP owners. Free Software is unowned. The culture is often worse than any capitalist company.

The Linux Foundation is undergoing controversy for trying to introduce a code of conduct with such radical feminists views such as: "Using welcoming and inclusive language." "Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences." Every HR department had stronger standards.

Giving control of production to the people, workers, or public will not make those people good. The "evil capitalists" are not the only ones with agency in the world. Everything isn't a plot to divide the workers, workers are perfectly capable of being horrible on their own.

It's not like the Linux foundation is some perfectly isolated socialist environment. It is made of people who live in a capitalist society. So naturally that is going to boil over. Throwing away capitalism will not solve everything, but it is an integral part of the solution.

What is boiling over though? Misogyny isn't necessarily a product of capitalism. It's very useful for it, sure, but it's existed long before capitalism and it existed (and thrived) in Socialist bloc countries, too (I live in one). Not all hate is the direct result of capitalism

The prevailing culture is going to boil over regardless of whether it's a product of capitalism. But I agree that not everything is. Plus the system in the socialist bloc isn't a good model for what we're trying to achieve these days even if we do learn some good lessons from it.
