I don’t see it as him making it about him, he has a lot of fans who are actively tweeting / posting about their disappointment and he’s redirecting them specifically to support a fellow author who is suffering! He probably knows John Gwynn.

but instead his fans are now in Gwynne's mentions clamoring about how unfair life is that Kristoff didn't get nominated while Gwynne's daughter literally just died. and Kristoff literally berated other books. how is he not making it about himself?
