Nope, not yet! Took HSR in Taiwan but I hear Japan is even more impressive.
It's pretty great! Also look into luggage delivery. Japanese trains aren't really meant to carry lots of bags (and definitely not commuter rail/subways) so if your schedule allows you can forward your luggage to pretty much anywhere and just take a daypack + change of clothes.
Isn’t EVERYTHING in Japan pretty pricey?
It's like being in the future. Japan is 20-30 years ahead with regard to public transit.
it costs $26 round trip and an hour and a half to go to a city 70mi away from me via train in america it cant be worse than that
To go 200km (120mi) from Ottawa to Montreal on the Via, is 1 hours 55 minutes and $37 minimum (one way) and to drive from station to station by car is 2 hours 6 minutes.
I'd imagine is worth every penny tho
Pricey relative to where? I found Japanese rail pricing pretty reasonable personally.
The train system is amazing. Fast and anytime u got off at a stop, ur next train would continently arrive right after. Everything was timed amazingly. The timing of it all was prolly my fav part of the train system there
