sucks to see terrible money people ruining the sequel to disco elysium. we shouldn’t let companies treat workers like that. anyway, time to go download overwatch 2
everyone’s like “he’s gonna fund totally unrealistic games that will never sell or maybe even never get made” as if that’s a bad thing, lol. So many current publishers have long track records of exploitation that it’s hard to imagine any newbie being worse.

eh, I say let the youtubers go nuts with their publishing companies. the more money for indies, the better. the less business experience they have, the better. maybe it'll be a trainwreck, but people with resources and “bad” business sense can be great for creativity

here's what people are searching to find my games on itch. no, I don't know what those 3 people were looking for or why it led to my game

had a silly audiovisual mashup idea while watching RRR the other day, and couldn't rest until it became reality:

thinking about how funny it is that Richard Nixon gave a big double-V for victory, then hopped onto a helicopter to go spend 20 years in disgraced semi-obscurity
what I can’t understand is copyright that lasts decades or even more than a century after the creator’s death. no normal person benefits from that; it’s some corporate dynasty-building nonsense

I see the argument that copyright protects creators’ income and theoretically stops indie folks from getting stomped by major corporations. not sure if I buy it, given most copyright enforcement goes the other way around, but it’s an argument worth considering.

in some ways it’s an unavoidable problem. time passes, things get lost, c’est la vie. but one of the common denominators making preservation worse has got to restrictive copyright laws.

preservation of old video games is a real problem, but IMO people overestimate the extent to which it's games-specific. books that don't become best-sellers fall off the face of the earth in a few years. Even popular TV/movies can become unavailable due to licensing issues

it’s “stressful” yes and your accomplishments aren’t “real.” but it’s a powerful fantasy. this is why people spend precious free time cursing hitboxes on Sir Bandersnagch the Unwoken’s grab attack. like horror movies, From games provide safe outlets where stress can’t hurt you.

many people have profoundly monotonous daily work/school obligations and aren’t rewarded for doing well, just penalized for falling off. the genius of FromSoft games is that they create worlds where learning and practice are always rewarded.

i don't know what point I'm making here. I was going to conclude something about how games writers should study plays, but maybe actually the point is that you should find a good Earthbound ROM and save it to your hard drive it before they get better at policing the internet
