Surprised with such an anti-progressive statement. Why instead of improving on the technology - forcing civilization go back to ~middle age~ nineties? And why banning all cryptos, wheres the article is about bitcoin? Eg. ethereum sharding promises to reduce calc 100 times.

The whole internet consumption is around the same digit, 70 terawatt/hour. Nobody claims we should ban it because of energy consumption. So the initial claim is not about the energy, but about the worth of crypto.
