According to your logic: if the coal plant is producing cheap energy, won't demand be centralized around it too? 5% is an initial number. With a 20% increase of waste, month over month, that number is bound to go up.

Also: 5% of something disgusting is still something disgusting. Glorified brute force attacks on hashes is not worth any of this, no matter how good the marketing machine behind it runs.
